The problem I kept seeing

I spent 13 years working in cloud infrastructure. I started at AWS, moved to JP Morgan as Public Cloud Technology Lead from 2015 to 2019, then led HSBC's Global AWS team from 2019 to 2025. For the last three years I have also taught Cloud Computing as part of the Master's in Software Engineering at Oxford University.

Based on this experience, I believe we often see the same problems. Engineers have access to pieces of cloud data but this is almost always part of the picture. Meanwhile people who need that data for decisions — compliance officers, auditors, project managers, incident responders — can't get to it. Data lives in silos and consolidating it is complex and time consuming.

Even cloud provider consoles are limited. You have to enable exactly the right access permissions to view them but not be able to change anything. Then your view of the data is limited by account or project, then by region. Even if you use two cloud provider services you will need to know how to find them among the 200 the cloud provider offers. None of the big five clouds allows you to embed this data in a webpage or workflow and exporting data from them is complex, if it's even possible.

Why I built LightPane

I have always believed that the way to improve cloud migration projects, cloud security and cloud cost management is to get the right data in front of the people who need to see it, whenever they need to see it. This can be application owners, project managers, implementation teams, incident response teams, compliance and audit functions and many more. Clear views of live data change everything.

This is why I built LightPane. I wanted a way to take that live cloud data and put it in front of anyone — on any web page, in any tool, without requiring console access or a per-seat license.

That's what LightPane does. It discovers your AWS, GCP, and Azure resources in seconds and displays them anywhere you can add a line of code. Compliance documents, incident pages, status dashboards, project trackers. The data is live, always current, and visible to everyone who needs it.

I didn't build this from a whiteboard. I built it from 13 years of watching the challenges we faced across some of the most sophisticated cloud operations in the world. This is a product I built for myself, but to solve a problem I believe everyone running and managing cloud will understand.
